As of Monday, we have a new family member....Welcome Winston!
It has taken a while to get over losing Patton. When he died so suddenly in September it was really hard on all of us. He was the first pet who became such an important member of our family. Shannon finally wore her dad down enough to get another kitten! Of course, with the history teacher in the house, we had to have another historical name. So, Winston it is! Winston is a Hemmingway Cat aka Mitten Kitten. He has five toes on his front feet instead of four. He is already spoiled rotten and we love him already.
Tomorrow Sean is taking an important step in his educational career. He is walking at the EIU Graduation for his master's degree. He has finished his administration degree to be a school principal. So be nice or you may get a detention! I am so proud of his accomplishments. He has finished this degree while teaching full-time, coaching three sports (one of which he is the head coach), and being a Youth & Government Advisor. He is considering going back to get his Doctorate and becoming a superintendent. Dr. Docherty has a nice ring to it, huh? lol
Shannon is loving high school She played on the volleyball and softball teams this year as well as being elected to student council. Last week she was re-elected for the Sophomore student council. She's keeping her straight A's and working very hard. Next year she hopes to add children's theater, Youth & Government, and National Honor Society to her already busy schedule. So proud of our girl!
Brennan is finishing the last weeks of 5th Grade. He loves school and stays busy with all of his sports and activities. This year Brennan was in wrestling again. He was a sectional qualifier and medaled at sectionals in March. At school, he played baseball, basketball, and track. He was also on scholar bowl and has been on the honor roll all year. He has started summer baseball and doing well. Brennan is a great guy and we are so proud of him!
I am still job hunting. There aren't many teaching jobs in our area right now, and schools are looking for the cheapest option, not someone with years of experience. I have a few options I am looking at right now. Keep me in your prayers that things work out for the best. On an upside...I do love being here for the kids and they like knowing I'm always here when they need me. I have been taking master's classes to get my reading endorsement from McKendree College and I even learned how to use the riding lawnmower! Big year for me! lol
We are so ready for the summer. Still trying to decide where to go for vacation. Sean and I will be celebrating our 20th Wedding anniversary in July. Sorry if that makes anyone feel old....it makes me feel old!
Ready for the beautiful warm weather! Have a great summer!
